Michael McVean's theme for this week's Scribble Picnic was 'tablecloth'. Right away I thought of seeing, when I was young, my Mom's Sunday tablecloth hanging on the line in the backyard. So, that is what I tried to do. A watercolor on 9x12 paper.
That really is very pretty, Latane, and what a lovely memory too--one I have never seen whilst growing up. This all looks so dreamy and a clever way to depict the theme. Thank you so much!
I ever so briefly thought about doing something like this, but didn't follow through. So glad that you did, and I love the matching cloth napkins hanging there!
We pegged our tablecloths on the line, along with our undies and everything else, when I was a child - no electric dyers then! They would come in frozen some winter days and we'd have to thaw them out and start all over drying again!
Oh you are so right ... my mother used to do wash every Monday and the tablecloth was always there. I loved back when we used to hang our things outside to dry ... they had a special fresh smell to them. Very nice, Latane ...
Latane you and Wanda were thinking alike, love your cheery tablecloth.
