The Clothes Line by Latane

Michael McVean's theme for this week's Scribble Picnic was 'tablecloth'. Right away I thought of seeing, when I was young, my Mom's Sunday tablecloth hanging on the line in the backyard. So, that is what I tried to do. A watercolor on 9x12 paper.

  6. That really is very pretty, Latane, and what a lovely memory too--one I have never seen whilst growing up. This all looks so dreamy and a clever way to depict the theme. Thank you so much!

  8. I ever so briefly thought about doing something like this, but didn't follow through. So glad that you did, and I love the matching cloth napkins hanging there!

  10. We pegged our tablecloths on the line, along with our undies and everything else, when I was a child - no electric dyers then! They would come in frozen some winter days and we'd have to thaw them out and start all over drying again!

    I love this piece Latane.

  11. Oh you are so right ... my mother used to do wash every Monday and the tablecloth was always there. I loved back when we used to hang our things outside to dry ... they had a special fresh smell to them. Very nice, Latane ...
