Cape Hatteras Lighthouse

My entry today for Paint Party Friday is a watercolor of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in North Carolina.

It is the tallest lighthouse in the U. S. In 1999 erosion over the years had caused the lighthouse to be just 15 ft from the water's edge and so was moved to a higher location. It's located in Buxton, North Carolina on the Outer Banks and is a big tourist attraction.

  5. Gorgeous painting! I would love to see it in person. Not to many old lighthouses still around to visit. Thank you for the history of it also. It is nice to know where inspiration comes from. Have a wonderful week! Hugs, Rasz
